eizo colour management in practice
i would love to own an eizo from their coloredge series [ wiki on eizo ] one day but thats another story.
an eizo maybe out of reach for me, for now but that does not mean i could not benefit from it. as one of the high-end monitor manufacturer, the information in their website enable their viewers to be expose to best practices or processes in their area of expertise. in this case, colour management.
what does these information means to a hobbyist photographer?
1. to be conscious what is colour management to you, your processes and workflow. easier for you to work it out or to find out what are your specific needs in these subject matter. trust me, you will come across colour management stuffs in your photographic journey. however, what you might not want to do, is to read and learn EVERYTHING at one go. just be conscious about these, and progressively learn about it.
2. to know where to look for more information about colour management to suit your needs, when the time comes. a reference point.
what it does not mean is if you don’t follow such practices, its “end of the world” for your images. there is no absolute colour accuracy, btw. a possible result is that colour consistency of your images may vary when viewed with different devices. hence the term “keeping colours consistent throughout your photographic workflow is ideal”
thats OK too, just as long you are conscious about it and know what type of steps to take when you want to achieve specific tasks when it comes to colour in your images. its all about judgement and balance. judgement comes from making an informed decision and balance comes from knowing what specifically to do best for tasks at hand.
overall, what benefits me with practicing a set of colour management workflow in my processes, its the peace of mind. i know to a certain percentage, what i see in my images in my monitor, it would be the same (more or less) as you see in your monitor.
