easy for me to say

here is one freebie advice for those who are thinking to pursue portraiture seriously – you literally shoot with whatever you have, handphone, point and shoot etc when you have the time for it. if you do not have the time but you have the drive to pursue your new hobby, you will make the time. ignore ALL photo technicalities.

your subject matter – everything and anything.

the end results, it does not matter. you are not like submitting what you shot for any photographic competition (and win anything) AND the spot light in not on you (no one know you even exist)

when you have nothing to lose, its a perfect opportunity to start making mistakes and you will heighten your photographic sense of awareness.

i do this all the time.

however, things becomes a bit complicated if you only think to shoot whenever with whatever you have, being self conscious about the results, make excuses to even lift a finger and expect favorable results. you wont.

so, my advice to counter this – be a writer or a poet, so you can express yourself and your excuses verbally. i am not being sarcastic, i am just leveling expectations. there is NO one click magic button to shoot what you want visually.

in my little photographic world, there is NO shortcut. keep dreaming.
