apple imac 27″ software update

my imac’s software update app prompted me this morning to update to address several issues.

in the software update app, it listed the 1st item – EFI FW update and the 3rd item – security update on 10.6.3 – when i checked further, they were addressing checksum issues.

once the 2 items were installed, i double checked if there is any more new updates – the 2nd item – SMC update was listed. turns out, you need to install the 1st item – EFI FW update before you could install the 2nd item. SMC update address the issue of power management, no wonder the temp of my imac can go up to about 50degress or more at times.

all updates are done automatically (you will be prompted to allow the app to install it) but i was wondering, why the software update prompted me a week after the updates were released (updates were released on 14th april)
