“problem” starts when you have loads of files – the last time i emptied my thrash, the files count were over 10k+ – 90% of these files were big in file size (i have a 1TB hard drive) and i have to wait for ages for them to be securely deleted.

so, if you have loads of files to delete periodically, you do not care if its secure or not and do not want to wait, this is what you have to do.

in your finder menu, click on finder, go to preferences, click on advances, uncheck the 4th option – “empty secure thrash”
